Written by Joe's friend and roommate David in his memory.
Joseph Leon Camber born 4-29-66, murdered 4-21-02.
As we mourn the passing of our brother Joe, let us remember his greatest desire: to achieve equality and unity for all people. Even though Joe didn't know your name, he cared for you in that he loved all people. He was a caring friend for the community as a whole. Joe was charitable and would help anyone he saw in need. He was a successful fundraiser for any cause, and many times donated out of his own pocket. He was on the steering committee of Knoxville Cares, a leadership group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and HIV+ people. He was chair and co-chair of Knoxville Pride. Joe was a volunteer at AIDS Response Knoxville, and at the Hope Center of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a caregiver for two AIDS patients. Basically, the quality of everyone's life was so important to Joe. Lets keep Joe's dream alive. Get involved and make life for others more beautiful and meaningful.
