A Tribute in Honor of Marian Louise Grant

Born July 20, 1927 * Murdered November 22, 1971
Submitted by Elizabeth Maples-Bays
As the floating beauty of the water lily...Mother brought strength and hope to us all by her presence.

In the dimmest reaches of my memory, she was there... caring for me... nurturing me... loving me.

Even today, she comforts me as only a Mother can. She is the source of my strength and the reason I do many of the positive things that I do in life.

She gave me precious gifts... love... home... safety in the face of danger. She created a place where we could rest after the long day. Her love surrounded me and nurtured me in many ways in the 19 years she was with me. I cherish each and every one of them.

While her years with me were short, she made a lasting imprint on my psyche. I look to her even today as a source of strength and love.

She was my Mother. She gave me Life...and many more things. She was viciously murdered by a selfish man who ripped her away from her beloved children, aged 19, 15, 12, 11, and 9. We needed her... as all children need their Mother... and although I was the oldest, I especially needed her. I am her only daughter.

Now my children have no grandmother... she could not be there to help and support me when they were born... nor could she be there when I needed her in many, many ways since that fatal day in November of 1971.

But she is still remembered... and loved.
